Rival Somali Islamic Militias Clash in Power Struggle

“Fierce fighting has broken out in two towns in southern and central Somalia among three Islamist groups vying for power in the country. With the U.N.-backed transitional government unable to exert any influence in most areas of the country, various Islamist groups and factions are trying to fill the power vacuum.

When are these guys going to stop? Previously it was about qabiil, now its about islamic sects. They basically like disagreeing and fighting each other, maybe they enjoy living on the edge? it might give them some sort of exhilaration? What do you think?

  1. These guys will never stop unless they’re stopped. They’ll wear a different suit for you everyday as long as it’s profitable for them. One day they’re warlords and the next day they’re fighting for Allah. One day they’re fighting for Allah and the next day they’re the president of a democratic government. I honestly don’t know how’s right or wrong, who’s speaking the truth or not, but one thing is definitely sure, as long as innocent civilians are the ones who’re suffering we’re all wrong.

  2. Ayaanle i agree with you. i dont know if you noticed but the so called “Shaykhs” leading “religious groups” in Somalia today are the same old and tired faces that worked as assistants or low key officials for the clan based warlords that ruled the country with an iron fist before this whole none sense about massacaring civilians “for the sake of Allah” started.

There is no truth in Somalia. Period. None of the Terrorists are working in the interests of the civilians. [take note of the deliberate use of the word "terrrorist" ]i.e Somali politicians/warlords/officials..

  4. Where are all the cool people who used to say that something good will come out of the marriage between religion and politics? Somalia is suffering today and religion is the weapon of choice. Wake up People
