Our fellow brother K’naan decided to speak out about the ongoing piracy in our oceans bordering Somalia. K’naan explains the other side of the story which is being neglected by the mainstream media. Hopefully it will shed some light on this issue. What are your views on this ?

  1. Brother K’naan Warsame should stick with his day job-making cute songs for Blonde Chicks.

Piracy is a crime and there is no ifs and buts on this. You can’t hijack ships hundreds of nautical miles off Somalia and still claim to be protecting the Somali waters. It is robbery and worse. Simple

  2. Off-course hijacking anything is a crime but hijacking those ships that r up to no good (either dumping waste or fishing from Somali waters) is a justifiable crime … and if u don’t think dumping nuclear toxic taste in Somali Waters is not a crime then u r not worthy of this response … go back to your senses brother …

  3. Do you even know when the toxic waste dumping happened? These pirates are not hijacking any of the toxic waste dumpers nor have they ever hijacked one. They are a criminal enterprise that is after money and NO little oversperm looking kid, I am not the one that needs to know what a crime is, it is YOU. Stop being a So Skeptic and read a book.

  4. First of all we must recognize that these pirates are no ordinary pirates. Some people refer to them as bad bandits and some as robin hood. With so many active piracy groups its hard to distinguish which is which. Some might be in on the profit where as some are in it for the nation. All in all these guys are somewhat effective I reckon, our issues at the coast are publicized and we managed to deter some.

I just hope there is no innocent people in harms way.

  5. Its obvious how this whole thing started and I have watched and listened to some of those who started this piracy thing … the poor guy said we were tired of waking up to foreign vessels sailing away with our fish nets we laid in the waters overnight to catch fish … even the fisherman as far away as Mombasa are appreciating what the so-accused pirates have done and you can watch that video yourself here on qarxis and I don’t need to read a book for that and all i recommend you get is some self-confidence to feel comfy on your skin …

  6. Over a month ago I posted this video [Click Here] about fishermen in Kenya appreciating the pirate’s work, even white people in Kenya had problems with these big trawlers as they simply suck all the fish out of the water.

Now, there is no doubt that some of the pirates often get too excited and go after harmless ships and sometimes kidnap innocent people, because of greed, hunger, unemployment, anger our what ever their frustration might be. This is of course wrong and would deem the guys doing this criminals, but if they are going after trawlers its totally fine with me, else the people of Somalia will soon start dieing of toxic waste.

Pirates that hijack ships hundreds of miles away from the Somali coast are STILL operating in the Somali Waters, our waters are vast. They are not really able to get far beyond our waters with them small boats. So they are far from the Somali coast yes, but still in the Somali waters.

  7. Allaah Yubaarik yaa Moamed Siiqe .. couldn’t have said it better myself and as for those innocent ships that had to suffer what was intended for those criminals we should keep in mind that its always the innocent that suffer the most. Nevertheless, I don’t see why any ships or airplanes should be using Somali air or waters knowing that it not safe and the only reason why they do it is because it is less convenient and they don’t have to pay for it and have their cargo inspected. Its the simple truth.

  8. I believe that two wrongs don’t make a right, but if the media and the world are turning a blind eye and a deaf ear on what these so called “advanced economies” are doing to our shores, I can’t see why we can’t do the same thing with the pirates.
